Subgrid Scale FE Stabilization Methods in Solid Mechanics

SUMMARY
Subgrid scale FE stabilization methods for incompressibility using a mixed P1/P1 displacement/pressure formulation in solid mechanics (infinitesimal strain elasticity, infinitesimal strain J2 plasticity, infinitesimal strain J2 damage models, finite strain elasticity and finite strain J2 plasticity) have been developed and implemented. Subgrid scale FE stabilization for incompressibility and convection dominant coupled thermomechanical problems using a mixed P1/P1/P1 velocity/pressure/temperature formulation in solid mechanics (using thermo-rigid-viscoplastic Norton-Hoff and Sheppard-Wright material models) have been developed and implemented.

SUMMARY
Computational models fo coupled thermomechanical problems have been developed, implemented and applied to the numerical simulation of material forming processes, such as casting (gravity die casting, low pressure die casting, high pressure die casting, lost foam casting), laser forming, Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes, such as Blown Powder Fusion (BPF) and Shaped Metal Deposition (SMD), and welding processes, such as arc welding, Friction Stir Welding (FSW) processes. Thermomechanical constitutive laws and thermomechanical frictional contact models have been developed and implemented. Lagrangian, Eulerian and Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulations have been considered. An apropos kinematic framework for the computational modeling of friction stir welding (FSW) processes has been proposed, developed and implemented. Subgrid scale FE stabilization methods for incompressibility and convection dominant problems have been developed and implemented.

SUMMARY
Penalty and Augmented Lagrangian methods for frictional contact problems have been implemented. An original frictional time integration algorithm, suitable for large slips within a finite strain framework, has been developed and implemented. Suitable thermomechanical frictional contact models have been developed and implemented. A direct elimination algorithm for full stick and frictionless contact problem has been developed.

Computational Modeling and Numerical Simulation of Sheet Metal Forming Processes

SUMMARY
Computational modeling and numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes, such as stretching, deep drawing, or superplastic forming, using a rigid plastic/viscoplastic flow formulation. The Gurson model has been considered and nucleation, growth and coalescence of voids have been taken into account. A selective viscous bending/membrane formulation was developed. Different frictional contact models were implemented. The computational models developed were implemented into the FE codes MFP2D/MFP3D.
